In my blog I’m going to be discussing my story of having a
family member struggle with addiction. To give you a little background I’ll
start by introducing the addict. Valerie is my older sister and has been my
role model since we were younger. She is three years older than me, so she is
currently 21. When we were super young our parents got divorced and my sister
struggled with accepting that her whole life. During her freshman year in high
school we lost a very close family friend to suicide, and her life started to
quickly go downhill. Being her younger sister I was always her confidant and
she told me everything. Trying to be a great little sister, I hid all her
secrets for her. I know now that was not a good choice and I really could of
helped her in the long run by just telling my mom what was happening. I enjoy
sharing my story and helping others who also know people struggling with
addiction. I hope my blog allows you to see how hard the struggle can be for others, and how it can make you as a family member stronger
What an inspiring story! I want to know more about what you guys are going through. And how your sister is doing now. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteyour blog is very friendly and inviting. i enjoyed the fun fonts and colors as well as the pictures. clean and clear with a personal touch. a very easy blog to navigate. i was a bit confused on the path this blog is going to take. there seems to be several topics you could expand on from this first post. interested to see where it goes!
ReplyDeleteVery compelling post! It must have been very dificult for you to watch her going down that path. I think your readers will definitely be inspired by your willingness to voice your past in the hope of helping others in times of distress. I'd like to hear more about what steps you and your sister have taken over the years to get her back on track and how her outlook is presently. Thanks for sharing your story with us!
ReplyDeleteThe outline and detailed description is very helpful to understand what your blog is about. Your topic is very deep and intricate and brave of you to talk about, your story about your sister is so compelling and i feel like everyone has someone they know like this but no one likes to talk about it, thank you for sharing this hard story and i look forward to continue reading more posts!
ReplyDeleteThis blog is amazing. The idea and purpose are very thoughtful. I really do think a lot of people will appreciate you opening up like that. You could potentially save lives from this blog space. Drug addiction is not an easy thing to deal with. I know a lot of people who struggle with addiction one of which being my uncle who is currently serving a life sentence in prison for simply being an addict. It's sad, it hurts, and it's hard. I think a lot of times it can be prevented jus simply with more knowledge. I give you props for being so open and honest.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderfully written introduction to your blog. Anyone who stumbles across it will have a clear understanding of what the other posts will be about. You picked a topic that holds a lot of meaning to you which is always great to expand and write about. Most importantly you chose a topic that others will certainly relate to, I can, and am very interested in reading how you have been dealing with it. Love the pictures as well!
